Air Brake Endorsement:
A provincial mandatory course for operating any vehicles
equipped with air brakes, regardless of class of license
a driver possesses. It teaches the student how to adjust
and inspect the air brake system and understand the
operation of air brakes.

In-Truck Training:
This is the actual time of instruction that a student
may expect to receive behind the wheel of our training
vehicle. Lessons include pre-trip, coupling/uncoupling
of trailers and an appraisal of performance at the end
of each lesson.

Load Adjustment:
Involves classroom study of weight distribution, load
positioning, weigh scale conduct, sliding trailer
bogies, sliding tractor fifth wheels and tire chains.
There is a practical demonstration of moving the bogies
and fifth wheels and the chaining up of tires for
adverse driving conditions.

Cargo Securement, Mass and Size:
Provides the theory and regulation behind securing cargo to the bed of
an open flat deck trailer and the regulations for loads
in the province of Alberta. The course covers pipe
handling, oil-field equipment loading, unloading and securement. The proper use of cargo winches, straps,
chains, boomers and bars, with practical demonstrations.

On-The-Job Training:
This is the actual time that the student will spend in a
job setting loading/unloading and hauling with a
seasoned driving professional. It is expected to provide
experience that a driving school setting cannot provide
in terms of road and load conditions. It should
familiarize the student with the activities of a working
trucker.

P.D.I.C. (Professional
Driver Improvement Course):
Designed for being a professional through introducing
the topics of Attitude, Public Relations and all areas
of the truck driving profession. Formerly called
Defensive Driving, this course will remove 3 demerits
from your driving record, this is valid for two years if
you were to acquire demerits in the future.

Log Book:
This course covers the Regulation governing
driving time, the use of Log Books and how to complete
them. The course deals with border crossing and some of
the paperwork associated with trucking.

T.D.G. (Transportation
of Dangerous Goods):
This course is for protection of the
public when dangerous goods are being transported. The driver should
understand the regulations. The subject matter reviews the
classification and documentation, which must be included on shipping
documents. Instruction includes methods of reporting spills, leaks or
accidents. |

G.O.D.I. (General Oilfield
Driver Improvement):
This course is to provide a petroleum industry
training standard for oilfield drivers. Enform sanctions this course
developed in conjunction with six oilfield agencies and two provincial
transportation departments. Recognized for demerit credit on the
driver’s abstract. |
| Picker or Winch:
This 2 day course is designed to be an
introduction to the operations of winches and/or small cranes. The first
day classroom materials cover the fundamentals and hazards associated
with the work. The second day is field practice to enhance the
knowledge gained. |
| H.O.S.
(Hours of Service): This course covers the Regulations
governing driving time, the use of Log Books and how to complete them.
The course deals with border crossing and some of the paperwork
associated with trucking. |
| W.H.M.I.S.
(Workplace Hazardous Material Information System): The study
of the information system to identify hazardous materials that are
produced, handled, stored, used or disposed of in the workplace and
labels which must be used to identify the risks and recommend
precautions. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) that must be provided. |
| Medical:
This is compulsory for a Class 1 license. We can direct you to a clinic
to ensure that you have the appropriate form and wallet card filled out.
You may go to your family physician. |
| Knowledge
Test: Involves the study of a booklet called
"Tractor-Trailers, Buses, Large trucks, Ambulances and Taxis". This test
is done at a registry office. You must have a class 5 licence prior to
obtaining either Class 3 or 1 knowledge test. We will provide you with a
copy of the booklet before you take your knowledge test. |
| Road Test:
Administered by an independent examiner approved by the Solicitor
General's Department of Motor Vehicles. |
| Bus Driver
Training: We offer
training on our bus to achieve a class 2 driver’s license. The vehicle
is also available to those who would like to familiarize themselves with
the operation of larger vehicles like motor homes. We can teach you
some tips for backing with your mirrors. |

LCV Longer
Combination Vehicles:
This course is required by the experienced
driver to drive extended length tractor trailer units. A classroom
session is followed by a practical drive and inspection process.
Discussion includes the handling characteristics of the longer unit. 2
years experience driving tractor trailer is a prerequisite for this
course |
